Taller Lumpen offers workshops in graffiti, street art, and tactical urbanism from a popular, territorial, and participatory education perspective. We understand street art not only as an artistic practice, but as a way of interpreting our surroundings, expressing our experiences, building collective memory, and actively participating in the transformation of our neighborhoods.

Our workshops are based on the experiences, knowledge, and questions of each group. We promote practical, horizontal, and collective learning processes where participants can experiment with materials and techniques, develop their own voice, and critically reflect on the space they inhabit. Each workshop is designed according to the ages, needs, objectives, realities, and resources of the communities, organizations, or participants who contact us.

WORKSHOPS FOR COMMUNITIES

Formative process designed in collaboration with communities interested in understanding, activating, or transforming the spaces they inhabit. These workshops may include exercises in territorial analysis, community memory, discussion on the right to the city, an introduction to graffiti, street art, and basic tactical urbanism tools.

WORKSHOPS FOR children and youth

Safe spaces for exploration, play, and creation to introduce children and young people to graffiti and street art. Activities may include experimenting with spray paint, markers, stencils, posters, drawing, composition, lettering, and other introductory techniques.

We also discussed the different ways of intervening in public space, the definitions and codes associated with graffiti, the risks of working in the street, and the importance of consent, collective care, and responsible decision-making.

WORKSHOPS FOR social justice organizations and groups

Workshops developed in response to the struggles, demands, and specific needs of community organizations, collectives, and groups involved in social justice. We explore graffiti, street art, posters, stencils, and other forms of public communication as tools to educate, mobilize, raise awareness of issues, and challenge dominant narratives.

Individual workshops and residencies

Processes aimed at artists, educators, researchers, and individuals interested in exploring graffiti techniques, street art, popular graphic design, or community intervention. These can be offered as intensive workshops, individual mentoring, knowledge exchanges, or artist residencies connected to the Barrio Pueblo neighborhood in Mayagüez.

Experiences may include training in stenciling, poster design and printing, preparation and use of materials, conceptual development of interventions, documentation of processes, and creation of projects that link artistic practice with popular education and community work.

Let's design a workshop together

The workshops can be adapted to schools, communities, organizations, collectives, cultural projects, and independent groups. Their duration, content, number of participants, materials, and methodology are coordinated according to the needs and possibilities of each group.

To request information, propose a collaboration, or reserve a date, contact us and briefly tell us who you are, what you would like to work on, and where you would like to hold the workshop. Based on this conversation, we can design an experience relevant to your context, objectives, and location.
